The faculty representation in this program is not only multidepartmental, but it is also multidisciplinary. The faculty members' areas of expertise include: biophysical chemistry (Professors Azuma, Berrie, DeGuzman, Dhar, Fisher, Hefty, Huan, Johnson, Lamb, Middaugh, W.D Picking, W.L. Picking, Richter, Rivera, Rosa-Molinar, Slusky, Tang, and Volkin); bioorganic and medicinal chemistry (Professors Altman, Berkland, Blagg, Forrest, Funk, Krise, Peterson, Schöneich, and Siahaan); protein structure and/or bioinformatics (Professors Azuma, Berrie, Egan, DeGuzman, Fisher, Hefty, Huan, Lamb, Middaugh, Mure, Neufeld, Ray Richter, Rivera, Siahaan, Slusky, Tang, Vakser, Weis); nanotechnology and biomaterials (Professors Berkland, Dhar, Forrest, Gehrke, Spencer); bioanalytical chemistry (Professors Berrie, Desaire, Dunn, S.M. Lunte, Rivera, Rosa-Molinar, Schöneich, Tolbert, Volkin, Wang, Weis, Zheng); drug delivery and cellular biopharmaceutics (Professors Altman, Azuma, Berkland, Dekosky, Egan, Forrest, Funk, Hefty, Krise, Paul, Peterson, W.D. Picking, W.L. Picking, Rosa-Molinar, Siahaan, Tamerler, Wang, Zheng).  Vaccine formulation and development (Berkland, Dekosky, Forrest, W.D. Picking, W.L. Picking, Middaugh, Hefty, Volkin) The expertise of the training faculty is further broadened through collaborative interactions with other academic and industrial scientists.
